While traveling with my camper, I always crave quiet, secluded places in the wild, avoiding official, crowded campsites as much as possible. Overlanding brings some extra challenges, though. One of them is leveling my camper van to cook and sleep horizontally. Beautiful places in the wilderness are often rugged, sloppy, or hilly terrain. I have been using the classic wedges for a long time until I found a much better solution: the Flat-Jack 2.0, an innovative leveling cushion.

How to Use the Flat-Jack 2.0 for Easy Camper Leveling

The Flat-Jack 2.0 is designed for ease of use. Simply place the empty cushion in front of the tire or tires you want to lift, drive onto it until the middle, inflate the cushion, and lift the vehicle as much as needed. I’m using a RYOBI battery compressor pump. The only challenge is the exact positioning of the tires in the middle. I recommend a small plastic or rubber mat to protect the cushion from sharp stones, especially in the mountains.
Handling Heavy Campers: Flat-Jack 2.0 Lifts 3.5 Tonnes Over 20cm

The Flat-Jack 2.0 is a versatile tool. You can inflate the cushion with a regular bike pump or a battery-driven mobile compressor, which is, anyway, a part of my equipment for adjusting the tire pressure after reducing it in rough terrain. The flat jack’s max pressure is 1,5 bar (22 psi), so it goes very quickly. This low pressure lifts my 3.5-tonne camper van over 20cm, much higher than most classic wedges, making it a reliable solution for a variety of terrains.

Why Flat-Jack 2.0 is Worth the 139 Euros: Comfort in Dream Campsites

The Flat-Jack 2.0 has significantly improved my camping experience. I’ve been able to level my camper van on dream campsites and stay comfortable overnight in places that would not have been possible with my old plastic wedges. This comfort alone justifies the investment of 139 Euros for each cushion. I recommend two cushions to make a majority of wild campsites available. Another significant advantage is the storage space requirement and the cushion’s low weight of 1100g. After letting the air out, the cushions barely need space and are easy to store in the vehicle. Go for it and tell me about your experience!
